BARBARA ALLEN - drums, percussion.  Barbara Allen has been teaching privately in the New York area since 1994. In addition to teaching many students standard drumset for both small and large bands, she offers instruction in a diverse array of other percussion instruments including timpani, mallets, and various world genres such as West African, Brazilian, and Middle Eastern. She is the timpanist for Bronx Opera, Taconic Opera, and Gateway Classical Music Society. She has toured internationally as a drumset player with numerous theater productions, and has composed and arranged music for jazz orchestras and small groups. Barbara’s recording credits include Diane Moser's Composer's Big Band, Erick Storckman Septet, songwriter Jim Allen’s Straight Time, and the score for the film Hotel Lobby. An ongoing student of West African and Middle Eastern percussion, Barbara received a master’s degree in jazz studies from Manhattan School of Music.
